'This course will engage with critical whiteness studies, including the work of Richard Dyer, Robin D'Angelo, Noël Ignatiev and John Garvey, Reni Eddo-Lodge, amongst others with reference to literary texts such as Langston Hughes' 'The Ways of White Folks' and the recent novel, 'The Last White Man', by Moshin Hamid. The main focus of the course however would be to work through the Layla F. Saad's 'Me and White Supremacy: Combat Racism, Change the World, and Become a Good Ancestor' (2020). The course is open for all but could be particularly useful for students who are positioned as 'white' and who want to address racism.
