Hello,
I have two questions to clarify for tomorrow:
1. As far as I understand it correctly, the end-rule is triggered if the utility gain decreases. I looked at the respective values "0" or "1" for the category "end-rule" in the explanatory video from Mesquita for this session. I compared the values with the ones of utility gain in the respective columns and recognized that sometimes the value for utility gain does not decrease, even though a "1" is indicated for "end-rule".
I would appreciate if we can generally clarify how the values for end-rule come up.
2. Like my fellow student Lars asked, I am also wondering how to
format the Excel data in a more legible way. I assume that we need the license first to re-run the commands by ourselves. Am I right?
See you tomorrow!
Best wishes,
Leon
Hey Leon,
I might be able to help with the first question, at least if I'm understanding it correctly (which is a good self-test either way!). The end-rule isn't triggered by just any utility decline, but specifically an expected (!) utility decline. So, when you're comparing utility gains, you have to look at the current and the following ones, not the previous values.
If you do that, you'll always find a triggered end-rule (1) in the column where the next utility gain is smaller than the current one. I don't see any columns where that isn't the case.
Hope this helps! If you already understood it that way, I'm looking forward to figuring out the issues tomorrow – I might be too blind to see them right now.
