This course examines the development of the principal elements of the morphological system - noun, pronoun and verb - in the history of English from the earliest records to the present day. It will comprise linguistic analyses of texts from the Anglo-Saxon to the modern period. We shall also investigate the Indo-European origins of certain aspects of the morphological system.
Earlier texts will be offered in translation, thus previous knowledge of Old English is not required.- Kursleiter*in: David J.G. Lewis
