Dear Students,
the shutdown of the extranet of the University of Potsdam caught all of us at an unfortunate moment. Last Thursday's speaker was available, yet I was able to postpone his lecture by 2 weeks. Last Thursday morning, I had to take the decision whether to show up at Griebnitzsee (without outside connectivity, as needed for the Zoom lecture) or hope you had access credentials (which are on Open.UP). Alas, we could not meet last Thursday.
How to move forward?
All core services that we need have been reestablished by the University of Potsdam, I posted a new syllabus, and the Open.UP course website has been adjusted. Please read the syllabus carefully as I made adjustments to the timing of a range of modules.
This Thursday, we will continue with the guest lectures by Dr. Braam and Dr. Schenuit.
While nearly everything can be easily rearranged, one item with priority is not yet scheduled: "Developing the Prediction Scales" (now: Module 11). I was hoping we could cover this module last Thursday over Zoom.
With a view to Assignments #1 and #2, it would be good to prioritize this module (takes around 1 hour in a group of four students). Ideally, we go through this module BEFORE the next lectures, yet I do not know your schedules.
My suggestions are as follows (we will use Zoom with the standard credentials from Open.UP; please make an external note of them in case there are more troubles ahead as Zoom servers are hosted outside the UP; reprinted at the bottom of this message):

If we cannot find a common time segment early this week, we have to postpone the module.
With my best wishes,
Detlef Sprinz
