Dear Students,

we had fruitful actor paper presentations and discussions thereof (Assignment #1).  The papers and grading sheets have been returned to you individually in graded form.

A zip file of all ungraded actor papers has been posted under Assignments for your information.  You infer from our discussions how they can be put to use.

We now look forward to Assignment #2.

It is a good idea to set up your group and a strategy on how to score all actors for the input file and determine who does what, using the published position scale, your joint agreement on how to create a complete potential influence rating of all actors, and how to run the model with the input data.  You should also undertake some robustness checks.

For source material on the various actors, we have read some documents on these actors, and there have been EU Commission-led consultations with all interested parties.  These have been published for the 2040 net greenhouse gas emissions goal and the CFRC/Certification scheme.  These are good starting points for assessing some actors.  Other material is available via standard sources that you explored for your actor papers.

For your presentation of Assignment #2, use the Paper 2 template as guidance on structuring.  For the presentations on 09 Jan. 2025 (submission on 08 Jan. 2025, 18h!), you do NOT have to have a paper in hand, but you should have results to present.

On the way, you can receive feedback on various occasions:

- use the "forum" under "Assignments #1 & #2" to ask general questions,

- send me an email for specific questions,

- prepare questions for the Zoom "Q&A on Group Projects" on 06 Jan. 2025, 18-20h (you can send them to me beforehand by email), and

- receive written and oral feedback on the day of Assignment #2 presentations (09 Jan. 2025).

I will respond to emails and Open.UP forum posts until 20 Dec. 2024, 18h, and resume working in the morning of 06 Jan. 2025.

I wish you happy holidays, take a few days off to recuperate, have new ideas, and then start the new year 2025 with a boost of new energy,
Detlef Sprinz
