The Departmental Advising (= Studienfachberatung) is provided in the individual departments/divisions by professors, lecturers, or research assistants. For example, you can contact the departmental advising office with questions regarding the following topics:

• content, structure, and areas of focus of your major
• academic and course requirements
• preliminary information on the recognition of previously earned academic credits
• individual study planning and organization

During the semester, academic advisors are available during set office hours.

During breaks between semesters, office hours may vary. These changes are usually announced on the department’s website or on notices posted in the department. If not, you can, of course, send an email to your academic advisor and request an appointment.
