In this seminar, students will gain a broad insight into the complex field of World Englishes. The course covers the following topics: Terminology and models, theoretical approaches, standards and identity, world Englishes in the classroom, English-based pidgins and creoles as a special case of world Englishes, English as an international lingua franca, culture in world Englishes, case studies.
